This elegant colonial mansion (1540) was the residence of Conquistador Gonzalo Suárez Rendón, founder of the city of Tunja. It was an important assembly point during the period preceding independence. Today it houses the Academy of History and the bureau of the tourist office. On the upstairs ceiling you will see two large 17C frescoes.
