To sample the charms of San Andrés, it's best to turn a blind eye to the architecture: the largest and most populated island in the archipelago is disfigured by chain hotels. The long and narrow island comprises three urban centres: the largest is El Centro, home to most of the shops and hotels; the two other towns are Playa de Spratt Bight, better known as Bahía Sardinas, and San Luis.
