This hiking trail winds its way between waterholes and tortured rock formations, solidified lava and trachytic domes licked by thick vegetation, giant ferns and smooth, gnarled trunks... Sometimes you have to use your feet as well as your hands, but the scenery is truly fascinating. The descent is through a beautiful forest environment. Although quite muddy at the time, this trail is more interesting in winter and spring, when the rains have filled the lake and waterholes, which sometimes run dry in summer.
